Please make a note that I have a new series here on The Equus Ink. I just had to add it! I am not a primpy, high-maintenance type, I mean I generally work around horse pooh so you decide, but I do like to maintain a clean and healthy appearance. All horse owners, and equestrians, can vouch that staying clean around horses is not an easy task. To a point who would focus on staying dirt-free around our equine friends anyway? But when you get home and want to sit down and pamper yourself after the barn, what’s your routine? I’d like to share with you mine and maybe you can get some ideas on how to add in a little “me” time to your week.
Sometimes we all need to sit down and take a breath, and just let things sweep out of our minds for a chance. “Me” time is such a good idea now and then, because it really refreshes your mind, so your better focused for the next day. My suggestion to you is; make a certain day of the week your designated pampering day. Mine changes often, but I do it later on, around 8 or 9 at night. Of course you can set it according to your needs. I have sleeping problems so I’m always on a later schedule than the early birds =). A bath is a good idea, but I find a bath difficult. How do I explain this… I feel so stripped of energy (which is kind of the point before bed) but not only that, I get over-heated and thus uncomfortable, so a bath isn’t part of my general pampering routine. What I usually do is go wash my face, brush my teeth, the usual before bed-time things, but then I put on a mask. Tonight I’m using a clay mineral mask by St. Ives. I’ve never used it before so I cannot recommend it quite yet, but I’m liking it already. I always make sure I have chap-stick by my side, and especially during a facial treatment like a mask because it can be drying. So don’t forget that. Next I sit down and get out my nail polish, remover, nail clippers, and a filing block….
I usually just put a few coats of clear on my nails, and I use something that can help strengthen them. Before I put on the nail polish though, I go take off the mask and and then proceed. Don’t forget some moisturizer after the mask. After the polish dries, I relax in bed flipping through a book, maybe with some candles lit and then it’s off to bed!
Stay tuned for more entries for this series! You can find all entries for this series, in the future, under the tag, “Pampering the Horse Owner.”

This is the photo eloquent pic of the week. Titled "Velvet." Errika!
